Documentary on the cargo bike revolution coming to Huntington
"Liz Canning has requested, videographer, Jon Shroeder, pay Huntington a visit. He is going to be in town and film interviews with our family and others who are cargo-curious, on the fence about cycling, ride for recreation and exercise, but are thinking about more utilitarian transport. He wants to hear about the cultural changes, the thoughts of the people, the quality of life implications, the ripples in the community. You do not need to be a cargo bike enthusiast for this documentary. The effects of the cargo bike are shaping all our lives indirectly.
There has been a slow building of undercurrent with projects such as the PATH, Marshall University EcoCycle Loan program, increased participation with Critical Mass, the successful introduction of Kidical Mass, Cycle Socials, Bike 101, a second bicycle shop, the revitalization of Tour de PATH, growing membership with Ashland Cycling Enthusiasts, full spin classes at local recreation centers, demand for bicycle parking, addition of the Homeless Veterans Ride, repeat of the Criterion, success of securing Safe Routes to School funds at South Side Elementary, and more and more people being seen riding bicycles. Two local business (Pita Pit and Jimmy Johns) report using bicycles for deliveries. A bicycle commuting public meeting was recently held to share information."
