I heard today that this property is being turned into a Dairy Queen. A little underwhelming.
Are you kidding me!!? That's definitely not exciting. I was hoping for something better than that! That's quite a big building for a DQ, but I can't say I'm surprised. Getting quite used to being underwhelmed.
Nice update on the Pea Ridge Plaza (anchored formerly by Kmart). Part of the old Kmart will become Big Lots with another 45,000 square feet remaining. The investor is planning $3 million in upgrades for the plaza including a new plaza sign.
It's good to hear that the investor is willing to invest in some much needed upgrades for that property.
Here's hoping part of the upgrades is new asphalt for the parking lot and that they can work with the existing tenants to renovate the exterior. It needs both and that would only help to attract some new tenants.

It's just too bad that they will bring in something like Big Lots. Stores like that will just kill the reputation of the entire plaza. It will end just being known for parking lot ODs just like Eastern Heights.

I wish they could find another tenant too as Big Lots registers a negative response in getting the public excited to visit the shopping plaza. To be honest though, I'm not sure what other retailer could work in that location. Maybe Rural King or Tractor Supply Company? Perhaps a Sprouts or Camping World location could be the catalyst to transform that plaza but then again maybe the market isn't big enough for them to succeed.
From looking at the companies website, they've worked with Big Lots before and have at least one property that has a lease with either Aldi, PetSmart and Planet Fitness. They don't appear to be a big company and are still making a name for themselves. Considering that Aldi, Planet Fitness and Petco are all a few miles away, I don't think we'll see one of them in this plaza.
