The West Virginia Soccer Association announced Monday that the 2015 and 2016 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, part of the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, will be heading to Barboursville.
"For us, it's a lot of work, but for the area, it's a $14 million impact from Grayson, Ky., to the other side of Charleston to Gallipolis on the Ohio side," said Len Rogers, president of the West Virginia Soccer Association. "It occupies better than 3,000 hotel rooms with a minimum three-night stay and fills up the restaurants and malls. It's just a spectacular event for everyone."
