That is exactly why they have the profits they do now. They know their customer and they run a tight business.

Kroger and Harris Teeter grocery chains to merge

This is related to a potential new grocery store in the Fairfield West area. Kroger just got larger and may be looking to lock out the competition for Huntington. I hope not.

This could be the two grocery stores the developer was representing. I would take a Harris Teeter but they would need to upgrade the current Kroger stores as well. I think competition would be better in the long term though.

Kroger...do something with the one in the West End! Geez that is a terrible representation of the other Kroger stores in the area.

I agree. I would really like to see them tear down and rebuild that Kroger. If they would buy and tear down the houses bordering the parking lot, they would have room for a nice one.

What a bummer. It seems that there is still more to find out about this though.

I feel like this demolition is moving so slow. It will be great to finally get those things torn down and hopefully move towards turning that into a nice retail district, but at this rate it's going to take some time, unfortunately. I have a related question though...there are houses across the street between the Byrd Clinical Center/MU Forensic Annex and the Cabell Outpatient Surgery Center that are boarded up as well. Does anyone know if there is plans for these to be demolished? And if so, what is the plan for that entire block of property??
