The much needed Fairfield West redevelopment to go before Huntington City Council. Some of the areas residents seemed to have some concerns. Hopefully, all can be worked out.

I'm sure everything will work out in the end. That is one aspect of human nature you can never get around, complaining. It doesn't matter what you build or how good of a project it is, there will always be someone complaining.

It will be nice when the old main corridor project is done. I think it will make the area from 11th - 13th street much more attractive physically and for businesses. It will be nice to have continuity between Marshall and downtown as well.

TB, I agree that 11th to 13th needs sprucing up in the building facades and street lighting. There is a lot of foot traffic there on a daily basis. Btw, I like that new sandwich joint behind Dans Sporting goods.

I've seen the sandwich shop but haven't tried it. I'll have to stop by and give it a try.

So I read this again and noticed that the articles said something about replacing old public housing with new public housing along Hal Greer. I'm not sure how I feel about this. One would think that you want to commercialize as much of Hal Greer as possible (which is what has been practically done anyway) and move the public housing out of sight and out of mind. I know that is a childish "throw the toys under the bed and in the closet" approach but what else can be done. I would much prefer that they rid themselves of the public housing all together but we know that isn't going to happen.

The new public housing would be scattered throughout the Fairfield neighborhood, not all together as they are now. The want commercial development where the public housing currently is.

That's good to hear. There is so much potential along Hal Greer near the hospital. But right now it is pretty much ghetto for a block or two

Oh that is better at least. Thanks for clearing that up. Does anyone know the timeframe for this? I know the Old Main project is starting up again within the year.
