In terms of a sporting rivalry, if there is a business with a reference to your rival or its location in its name, I believe a good portion of the people would care.
There is no rivalry...

I have heard the same thing about Uno's... hearing the owner wants a Brewery in here BAD! I believe a chain would probably be the only one that would be able to afford Pullman's outrageous rent! Mountain State would open up way before Morgantown Brewery IMO

I think a brewery would be a much better draw in the UNOs spot as a restaurant and for Pullman Square in general. Even more so with Backyard in town now. A chain brewerywould be nice for the name recognition and stability but if another brewery opens up, I would rather see a local one rather than one from out of town.

You might just be surprised. I'm certain there are enough folks in Huntington with a sense of quality to make something with Morgantown in the name appealing. WVU sells as much fan gear in the Barboursville Mall as does Marshall, maybe more.

True beer fans enjoy a beer because of quality and not where it is from. It sounds like Huntington may not have the market for a brewery if residents are hung up on hating Morgantown or boycotting a product over a non-existant rivalry.

We have two great brewers in the Parkersburg area. The North End Tavern and the Marietta Brewing Company across the river in Marietta.

The thing is we keep it all for ourselves.

Have them open a place up here in Morgantown. We'll give them a try.

Both NET and Marietta Brewing are hidden gems, and would def be well received in larger college towns/cities. Anytime i make a trip to Parkersburg i try to squeeze in a visit to the North End Taven for a NET burger and a couple/several local brews.

MBC is also a really cool place. It reminds me of a lot of some of the brew pub's out in Colorado when i was visiting Denver and Boulder a few years back. They let you walk out with a growler to take home as well.
