Nice floor!

One question though, does the city have a primary tenant in mind to use this facility for hoops?

Probably just Huntington Prep. MU will just keep using their arena, as both have about the same capacity. I can imagine that they might try to start a high level high school boys basketball tournament as well. It would make a lot of sense with the publicity that Huntington Prep has been getting. This is all just speculation on my part.

Other than that, who knows.

The format of the St Joe invitational was changed this past year to feature match ups between Huntington Prep and other big name high school basketball teams. My guess is that is currently the main thought along with the yearly Globetrotter event. With the success they have with the state wrestling tournament, I can see them making a bid on that too.

On another note, Tri-State airport is receiving some federal funding for upgrades.

It would be nice to see the State basketball tournament in Huntington.

I also like the idea of Huntington hosting an annual HS tournament. Maybe something to do around the holidays?

So apparently they are doing the same thing to the southern face of the building. Nothing was said about the eastern side though.

The City of Huntington leases the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers owned park - that's managed by the greater Huntington Park and Recreation district. And those in charge say the $20 million master plan is out of mothballs and moving forward. Mayor Williams says a planned skate park is in the works where the homeless test city once thrived. He says there's a spray ground on the way - and much more - building on a more secure park and a much firmer grant based funding plan. And the park's former dilapidated dock, barge and makeshift marina is now a clean palate for development.
