HUNTINGTON, WV- The Miller Investment Group at RBC Wealth Management presents the hip progressive bluegrass band Yonder Mountain String Band at the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 10th, 2018, at 7:30 PM. Yonder Mountain String Band has spearheaded a renegade movement to rewrite the definition of the genre. Rolling Stone said that Yonder Mountain String Band "liberates bluegrass' hot-stuff riffing and blue-sky harmonies from its hidebound formalism.”

This sounds like a pretty big deal:

Quote:
Reid-Smith anticipated a historic announcement that the National Council for the Arts, for the first time in its 26-year existence, will host a two-day conference in West Virginia (in Charleston and Huntington), June 28-29.

"They have not had a meeting outside of Washington, D.C., in 26 years, and on June 28-29 they will be coming to West Virginia - 16 members, all presidentially appointed, people like Lee Greenwood, are on the council. They will be in Charleston and Huntington. They want to see organizations that they have funded through individual NEA grants."

Yeah, it makes no sense. You think that it would be encouraged to partner with entities that are already licensed rather than having to apply for a new one. I guess you don't make as much money that way.

Five for Fighting coming up March 8 at the Keith Albee. Might try to make to this one. The show is sponsored by Cabell Huntington Hospital, The Herald Dispatch, KEE100, WSAZ and the Union Pub and Grill. Disclaimer: Not a dime of state money was used for this production.
