McDonald's Tristate Criterium next Saturday:

Cyclists racing Saturday in downtown Huntington | The Herald-Dispatch

Quote:
HUNTINGTON — Noah Kinney considered himself a pretty good runner, but turned out to be a better cycliist.

Kinney, 29, will be on his racing bicycle Saturday in the McDonald's Tri-State Criterium/West Virginia State Criterium Championship in downtown Huntington. He'll be riding in the Men's Cat 1/2/3 race, which is considered the main event.

"Because it's the (state) championship this year, that's a big deal and I would like to be competitive," said Kinney, who races for Team Ride On of Wooster, Ohio.

The Morgantown native works at the Huntington YMCA as a personal trainer and does his cycling training by riding 15 to 20 hours a week for about 250-plus miles, he said.

So the Rails and Ales festival sold out again. This year's event will be moved from the original spot at Heritage Station along with adding an additional 1,000 tickets to meet increased demand, as last year sold out in about three hours.

This year? Nearly 3,000 tickets sold in 26 minutes, or an average rate of over 100 tickets sold per minute. Thankfully, I scored a couple with no trouble. But I know some people on Facebook who were pretty salty over not getting a ticket this year.

If you're planning on going (or planning on avoiding the area during the festival!), it'll take place from 1-6 PM (noon to 6 if you're VIP) on Saturday, August 15th at Harris Riverfront Park.
