Media reports say that Marshall head coach Doc Holliday is working on a long-term contract extension to remain as the head coach of the Thundering Herd.

Holliday has been rumored to be one of several coaches receiving interest for the head coach opening at the University of Pittsburgh in recent days.

According to a report by the Charleston Daily Mail, Pitt officials requested permission from Marshall to interview Holliday, which prompted Marshall officials to work on a new contract for the 57-year-old native of Hurricane.

Congratulations to Herd fans for the win over Northern Illinois in the Boca Raton Bowl. I'm sure Dr. Kopp would have been proud.

That's good to see. If only the defense would've shown up for the WKU game!

RB Devon Johnson is originally a McDowell County product from War/Big Creek area before moving to Richlands,Va. He is a class act and hopefully he has another standout season that garnishes him consideration for the NFL. His brothers were also talented athletes as well.

Also under Doak Walker award consideration this year as well.

In addition to that, the Purdue Band posted a picture on Facebook that was taken when they went to the memorial at the cemetery. It had lots of "Likes" and positive comments from Herd Fans. It's certainly great to hear about people having a terrific positive experience when the come to Huntington for a game, and still talk about how great it was even after they lose the game.

You know from all that has been said positive on both sides, I can see a mutual relationship being established between the two schools. I mean if the fans love to come here and they treat us with the same respect when we play them, then they might be more receptive to playing us in the future and possibly on other sports as well. All speculation, but it's nice to think that some good can come from our kindness.

Marshall-Purdue in basketball would be a fantastic addition to the schedule.
