From the description it sounds like they're describing the existing bridge over I-64. Is there a date listed on the information.

Unless the existing bridge is going to be replaced I'm not sure where another bridge could be built.

I thought that was interesting. I’m trying to imagine where exactly such a road would be located but certainly could help with traffic around the mall.

Does anyone know anything about this?
I don't know what publication you're referencing, but after searching it seems to be an old project. That quote was a project description included on a resume for one of Terradon's PEs. That work was done in the late 90s.

So, unfortunately, nothing new. I thought it might have been referencing the US 60 widening which was approved as part of the bond package, but that RFP/Q hasn't been let yet.

Yes, I apologize, that was referencing an older project. False alarm! I did contact KYOVA-IPC and the official start date for the US 60 widening/intersection upgrades project for Tanyard Station is the first quarter of 2018, specifically 1/28/17.

I also inquired about the I-64 widening and Ona bridge replacement around the Mall and was told the design phase started in May 2017 and continues now with expected completion in late Fall 2018 followed by construction starting in early 2019 (estimate).

Since I-73/74 will tie into I-64 at Kenova, this is somewhat related news:

Anyone know what they are doing on Rt. 10? Almost looks like the are prepping the area for widening? Or is it all about drainage? They've cleared out a lot of area on both sides of road.

Per elewis, I believe he said the plan was to straighten and widen to 3 lanes. This would just essentially add a turn lane.

I wonder what the timeline is for other 64 proposed projects looks like. 64 could become a traffic nightmare for the foreseeable future, especially whenever plans come together for widening from Scott Depot to Nitro, or Huntington to Milton.

Don’t get me wrong, the work is certainly needed and the inconvenience will be worth it! Just remind me not to be anywhere near 64 in the meantime lol!

Chriscross, I was wondering the same thing. I would guess it would depend on when the funding comes available through the bond selling and DMV fees.

The interesting thing to me about the article/video above was that they never mention widening at all. They make it sound like they are just replacing drains and resurfacing. I would hope this is the first stage of a widening process but I'd like to see it confirmed though.
