Zoyd,

The "founding fathers" believed in freedom. Not socialism. Taking the money I earn and giving it to someone else is socialism. I care about the welfare of my fellow man. I just don't want to support him. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Is health care a god given right? No! Neither is taking what I work so hard for and giving it to another. God forbid anyone speak out, saying what they think or feel. You are labled as an "angry white man"

I believe in freedom. Freedom of thought, freedom of choice. I suggest you read books on the founding fathers. You may find how they really thought. Our "founding fathers" had a dream. This is not it!

Yesterday, my kids were giving me a hard time because we went to the concert at prickets fork and they missed "dinner". Which means we didn't sit home at the table but brougt food with us. Poor children had to eat their roast beef, yogurt, fresh veggies and mellon on the ground. They told me they were "starving" because they ate later than usual. It just pushes a button for me. Me or my children have never been starving. We live in the most indulgent, weathy country in the world. Hungry, I can live with. But I just get mad when they say they are starving.

The kids look at me like I'm crazy when I try to explain it to them. I wonder if that's the look I had on my face when my parents and grandparents explained it to me?

Are you poor? I don't understand this post?

Convex ~~ that's not my post. You'd need to read through the thread to see who it belonged to. (I'm too lazy to go back and find it.)

As far as your earlier post, I respect your position entirely, however that misses my point. I was referring to being open in spirit. Some people also will give more than that and dedicate their time and money as you well know. My suggestion was directed at the responses to the OP which could have been more gracious and welcoming, IMO.

No, I wasn't suggesting you "support" anyone. Most of us go to Church and pray to God and I just encourage people to follow through on Jesus's teaching in their daily lives. Too often something seems to be missing between Sunday and the rest of the week. That's all, nothing more, but also nothing less.

I would hope that is something you would agree with. And I'd be happy to buy you a beer if we ever meet.

(But yes, I'm pretty broke these days.)

Zoyd

Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day; Give him a religion, and he’ll starve to death while praying for a fish.

A beer sound's good.
