Travel Channel to highlight Hillbilly Hotdogs in Sunday show finale
LESAGE — Sonny and Sharie Knight’s Hillbilly Hotdogs is again ringing the bell on national TV.
The quirky family-fun Lesage and Huntington-based restaurants, which has its super-sized Homewrecker hotdog and 15-pound Doublewide burger, is featured on the upcoming Travel Channel series called, “101 Tastiest Places To Chow Down.”
The series started counting down the best places on Sunday, Jan. 3. And at 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, the Channel unveils the Top 20 including, Hillbilly Hotdogs, which was featured last year on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives."
They've had some good exposure over the last couple of years. I talked to the people there a couple of months ago and they said that they were trying to get Adam Richman from Man vs Food there to come to Huntington and try one of the eating challenges. That would be pretty neat as well.
I love all the publicity this place recieves. I've never ventured over to the Lesage location, but have eaten at the downtown store, and at their booth at the Hot Dog Festival.
I haven't lived in W.Va. for almost 40 years, but remember the great Hot Dogs there when I was growing up.
Use to go to the Mecca Drive Inn. Hot Dogs 10 cents or 3 for a quarter.
Never found them that good anywhere else !!!
