Alabama restricts container size, so a 32 oz beer cannot (legally) be sold in Alabama. That's one of the laws that Free the Hops is planning to change. It will take years for that to happen.

I have not seen this "Blue Dot in a Red State" sticker all over the place and reduction of SUVs. Nor is it a trend in Huntsville/Madison/anywhere within a 100 mile radius.

Perhaps you accidentally stepped into a teleportal and still think you're in north Alabama, because this "trend" you described is absolutely wrong.

By the way, the "W" stickers are gone because he's no longer president. And I haven't seen a single "Blue Dot in a Red State" sticker in Huntsville. I'm sure there are a few, but I've seen zero. Maybe you've mistaken them for "I Heart Spade Pets" stickers? I've seen some of those.

I haven't noticed a reduction in SUVs but I have seen numerous of the "Blue Dot in a Red State" stickers. I probably see one every few days (and I don't drive that much).

I've noticed the SUV numbers decline visibly maybe summer of 2008 ($4 gal). It was strikingly visible going in and leaving work in CRP, on Old Madison Pike due to high concentration of cars. The numbers must've crept back up when the gas prices eased up (despite the economy, which locally must have not suffered that much until these days). Don't know anything about political stickers, I still see a few McCain/Palin, or Obama.

I spend a great deal of my time either driving, as I work in a sales-related field, or riding my bike, because I'm a physically active person and love the thrill of riding a bicycle. So, I tend to notice a bit more about the vehicles around me. THings like unusual bumper stickers, makes and models of vehicles, what drivers are doing instead of driving, and even tag plates, are all part of my field of vision. Plus, I have a great memory.

I see lots of trucks and SUV's in Alabama, but see plenty of people who align themselves with a more liberal mentality. I didn't say they were liberals, I just said they align themselves with that way of thinking. And the little Obama stickers and the little blue dot stickers are ways they show that. Some go as far as to drive a particular type or types of autos, so as to show their committment to a different way of doing things, than the customary 12mpg, f-350 pickup so common in Alabama.

Just my observations....

There are lots of "Blue Dot in a Red State" stickers around here. I don't know why people are so fond of denying the existence of Democrats in Huntsville.

In the last presidential election Huntsville City was split exactly down the middle between Democrats and Republicans, 49%-49%.

Vote splits tight inside Huntsville - al.com

The split for the county was much more in favor of McCain, i.e. when you leave the city limits it gets very strongly conservative (66%-33%).

It's the only part of the state where you could buy a 32 ounce beer.

I recall admitting that I could be wrong.

But at the same time conservatism and party affiliation are two different things. There are a lot of people that call themselves conservative democrats. Take Parker Griffith, and I know he's a bad example, be he was a conservative dem before he suddenly decided he was republican.

And I would say the city of Montgomery is, "liberal," but once you're in Prattville or Wetumpka it's full red. The same for Birmingham. The city is blue, but the suburbs are red red red.

That's over-exaggerating quite a bit I think, just my opinion. I've never met anyone who denies there's a political mix in Huntsville. I just know all those "W" stickers haven't been replaced by "Blue dot in a red state" stickers as they previously said, not even close to the same numbers nor the same people.

I have a 64 mile commute (one way) and I've yet to see a blue dot sticker. Never heard of it until this thread. Not doubting their existence.. just saying.. they may be more plentiful in particular areas than others but I certainly couldn't say they're everywhere having not seen one yet myself.
