Default Huntsville-Decatur Metroplex?

This is not wishful thinking or wanting. I was thinking how Huntsville and Decatur literally touch and are about 20 miles from each other's downtown. Limestone County is, I think, the fastest growing county in state, which means it is possible that it will unite Huntsville and Decatur with development. Huntsville and Madison are growing westward at a fast pace closer to Athens and Decatur. If this "metroplex" thing happens, maybe will see a transit system, the name changing of the Huntsville Airport to Huntsville-Decatur International Airport, road widenings, more jobs, etc. Already, Huntsville and Decatur's relationship reminds me of Greenville and Spartanburg and a smaller DFW. This is my opinion. Can anyone see this happening?

A&M Bulldawg, read this:
Reality is the state of things as they actually exist, rather than as they may appear or may be thought to be.[1] In its widest definition, reality includes everything that is and has being, whether or not it is observable or comprehensible.

Historically, philosophers have sometimes considered reality to include nonexistent things such as "gold mountains" in a sense referred to as a subsistence, as well. By contrast existence is often restricted solely to being (compare with nature).

Having seen the growth and jobs and choking congestion come to the Atlanta area over the past 30 years, I hope the same does not lie in Decatur's future. We just spent a couple of hours looking over Decatur. Understand this is from someone older, not elderly, but older; Decatur struck the Frau and I as a quiet, exceedingly clean and a right-sized town. To us the appeal is in the multitude of church steeples and what appeared to be a viable downtown area. And, of course, Old Decatur is as the wife would say, charming.

Observed the kids getting out of school at Decatur High. Good looking group of kids. Parks well-maintained. Good cup of espresso at Java Jaay's. Good first impression. We'll have to take a closer look.

I think it already is. I would include Athens as well though. I think all three have too much history to ever allow annexation or consolidation. Similarly I don't foresee the airport being renamed because Huntsville is certainly the senior partner in the relationship, and it would only detract from its prestige to add Decatur to the name. Also Decatur has an airport within its city limits already.

I think the future developments in all of this will be the slow annexation of much if not all of the city of Madison by Huntsville. Decatur may try to annex Trinity and Hartselle at some point. If it gets Trinity I see no real reason Decatur wouldn't go ahead and annex a big hunk of eastern Lawrence County. They could build a 6A school to serve the current West Morgan and East Lawrence school districts that they'd've annexed if that happened to save on operating a small school or bussing the students into the city proper. Then there's always overturning the state law that prevents Huntsville from expanding to the east outside of Madison county. If that happens I see no reason that we might not talk about a Tennessee Valley metroplex stretching from Russellville in the west to Scottsboro in the east.
