Any Germans in Huntsville/AL? (Decatur, Florence: living in, restaurants, move to)

Yes there are, I don't know how you can get in touch with them. Maybe when you get here you could go to some german restaurants and ask around.

Thanx a lot! I've already been to the Ol' Heidelberg but didn't find any But I guess it's easier to find some when I live there...last time I've been there for only 2 days..^^

Is anyone going to the Oktoberfest in Huntsville on the weekend? Or has anyone been there last year? Haha even though I'm German, I don't like Volksmusik so much but my German boyfriend + 3 other German friends gonna go there just to see how American's "celebrate" the Oktoberfest.. any maybe we'll meet some other Germans there too!

That's because Ol' Heidelberg food does not taste very German. We Germans know better than to go there to try to get authentic German food. Their food sucks if you compare it to "real" German food.

I think you will be pleased to see many German expats in northern Alabama. I believe the pretty little town of Cullman, Alabama was originally founded by Germans as a colony for German immigrants.

There is a German community in St Florian in Florence Ala. approx an hour west of Huntsville. I have no idea why the area is unique to Germans but I do know the area is predominantly German. A small rural nice area a few seconds off the main and only drag in Florence. Might be worth looking into!
