Default Why do some people refer to Huntsville as "Huntsvegas"?

I don't get it.

I've heard Nashvegas also for Nashville too. I think they are poking fun at the entertainment and nightlife scene by comparing it to Las Vegas, when obviously there is no comparison.

I have heard from a number of sources that the divorce rate in Huntsville is staggering; some even say it is as high as 70 percent. I believe that office "hanky panky" is rampant here, and maybe that's why the connection with Vegas (Sin City).

What?!? I don't think it's any higher in Huntsville than anywhere else. rnc's answer is correct.

Actually according to the data on this site, Huntsville's number of divorced residents is about 50% higher than the average in other cities I looked at. (Most other cities being 8%ish, and Huntsville being 12%ish. - that's percent of adult residents, not the "divorce rate") I was wondering if that had to do with the number of military folks? I have heard that the military lifestyle is a strain on many marriages.
