Default Apartments in Madison/Huntsville

Hi! I would love to find out the inside scoop on the apartments in the area. I am pretty sure I would like to be in Madison or NE Huntsville. I am moving soon and have no idea on the area. I have a 12 year old girl and am concerned on safety. I would also love to know which school district in Madison is better or are they about the same? THANKS!!!!

robaleena, you might want to avoid the NE. My mom still lives there, and lives in a nice neighborhood, but there are some rough parts. It depends on what you are used to. Lee High has a good arts magnet program, if your daughter is into that. However, it can get a little rough at times. Madison's schools are good, and it is safer (although, I think it is more boring). In the NE, you'd have to be more careful as to which neighborhood you pick.

If you are interested in Madison City Schools (which I would recommend) be sure that the apartment you select is in Madison. Some of the zoning in the area is a little tricky. For example Weston Ranch located behind Home Depot off Hwy 72 is in Huntsville City Schools. Also I understand access to these apartments from 72 can be problematic.

Be sure to get any info about school districts in writing, even if it's just a brochure. Huntsville City Schools Central Office has already demonstrated to me their capacity to provide erroneous spoken information re school districts, and I'll bet all the various other school boards have that capability also.

And school districts are subject to change during the summers due to the subdivision and student population growth, though not for now since the school year has started (yes, in August for those of you not from here).
