Is 10083 POPLAR POINT ROAD, Athens, AL a good location or bad location. Is Athens a good place to live. How does it compare with Huntsville, Madison and Decatur.
Does anyone know if it floods in that area. I appreciate any thing you can tell me about the area and Athens. |

This is a small "settlement" of riverside homes. Some of them are on the river and some are not. Some are occupied only on weekends, some full time. Construction ranges from trailers to brick homes. It is very close to the Tennessee River and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. I believe Clements School is the school for the area, and I think it's a K-12 school. It is still quite a drive to get to the school.
Not sure what you mean by "how it compares to Huntsville, Madison and Decatur". Those are cities, and this area is a small neighborhood out in the county. It's also quite a long drive to get to a grocery store. The Tennessee River is controlled by a series of dams (TVA). I don't believe this area has flooded since the dams went into service in the 1930s. You can put the address, with "Athens AL," into Google and see the home in a satellite picture. That will give you a VERY good look at the area. |

Southlander I really appreciate your response. I really is helpful. I woudl have had no idea there was a nuclear plant there. I really need to look into that. I found a piece of property at a great price and I was wondering why it was so economical, I guess that might be the reason. I was thinking the area might be bad or flooding might be the problem and I guess I was on the wrong train so you really put me on the right track. So once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I do appreciate you.

It's under contract at the moment (contingent); is that you? If not, oh well. If so, I love the in-ground pool!
