Well if we put a fence up the kids will just jump it.

Feel bad for the land owner, I hope the parents don't try to sue him or something.

I don't agree - if you put a fence up, some kids will be undeterred, but many more would stay away.

A flooded quarry is usually considered an "attractive nuisance" and therefore opens the owner to liability even in the case of trespassers.

Isn't the quarry fenced? I don't believe I have ever seen one that wasn't. Now the shape the fence is in may be another matter.

Edit: I just looked at a map of the area. It looks like there are still ongoing quarry operations. Gates and signs are probably the only thing in place but that is probably all they can do from a reasonable cost standpoint.
