Seriously? You have to be kidding. We have been in an epic drought which is just beginning to lift. Last summer there were small towns about an hour from here that had to use firetrucks to fill up water tanks because of the lack of rain.
Maybe Arizona or West Texas would suit you better.

3.) it rains too much, way too much
4.) some people here, not all, but some really have no concept of manners. It's a huge surprise when ever someone holds the door for me or even cares to look back to see if they should hold the door -
5.) Getting a drink at most bars can be difficult, that is unless you have the right equipment
5.) Though traffic is mild, the city has some real dumb traffic lights and few are properly timed or matched to the traffic patterns
6.) its the SUV capitol of the world
7.) exercise here is an 8 letter word, the whole population is seriously overweight and needs to put down that tube of cookies
8.) their is no mom and pop anything, if it's not a chain, it's not here
9.) Their are more malls than parks in the city. Except for Big Spring park, their is almost no green space anyplace else in the entire city
10.) Real estate is rediculous here for the size of this town and the amount of culture that is available
11.) City is homogeneous relative to occupation, the whole city is technical, yawn

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Oh boy.
1) lol, what?
2) bitter much?
3) Are we still talking about Huntsville, AL? The city in the whole bad drought part of the country.
4) This is really unfortunate that you have encountered such people. I have only experienced the friendliest and respectful people where holding doors and saying "yes ma'am" is more culture than a rule.
5) Yea, pretty bitter.
5x2) Ding Ding Ding. This minor squabble could be worked on.
6) This is a might unfounded and I have also seen more hybrid/green cars here than any other city in the south.
7) Maybe you were going for "tube of cookie dough"? Also, obesity is a problem nation-wide that needs to be addressed. This entry smacks of numbers 1,2, and 5
8) Knowing where to look is the trick here, and yes, I'd like to find a couple more gems myself but in no way do I think Huntsville is over incorporated.
9) I don't want to even take the time to address this one.
10) At this point I thought you might be trying to make a funny.
11) And we end on a high note. I agree that the last couple decades of architecture is certainly not a selling point of Huntsville, but hopefully with Bridge Street, Hudson-Alpha, and Shelby Hall that is starting to change.
I'd be interested in your list of likes, but I don't imagine it could be nearly as entertaining as this list.

Brahan Spring is the only park west of Big Spring that I can think of. With all the development in west Hsv and the fact that half of everyone works there - some thought of a park in the area should have been given. O but I guess you can't collect sales tax revenue from it.
You can't count MS, its a state park, and the land trust was done completely private

MS and the Land Trust don't count?????? What about Hays Nature Preserve or Green Mtn? You said "greenspace", not city owned "greenspace". What's the difference? The Land Trust is a LOCAL foundation dedicated to preserving green space in Northern AL. IMO they've done a better job than any government agency would at that task. The fact is, there is a huge amount of protected acreage INSIDE the city limits available to hike, moutain bike, picnic, bird watch... It is one of the main factors that drew me to Huntsville.

That's what we are saying over here after looking at our water bill
Any rate, "a river runs through it!" and we are going to get the water people to come out and add some extra thingabob to separate sewage etc from watering costs. Costs about 1200 and will save us in the long run.

What about Rainbow Mountain in Madison County? I think there are some hiking trails there etc., but I haven't had a chance to look. We just got back from the Botanical Gardens and they were just so nice. Any rate, all is soooo accessible here that it doesn't matter if it is right next door to you--you can be there in under a half hour for the most part (except for Lake Guntersville--with that lodge--that I soooo want to see now!).
Besides, if someone is that unhappy, well maybe this just isn't the right match for that person. Oh well--it is for me--except for the scary weather--that is a definite YIKES for me!

Rainbow Mtn is on my list of places to go. I've know several people that have been there and it is suppose to be a very nice walk/short hike. Plus, if you live in Madison it couldn't get closer. I've also heard the Indian Creek Greenway is a nice place to walk/run/bike.

I have a greenspace in my own back yard...
Keep the cookies. More rain, please.
