New to the area and am looking to purchase my first Christmas tree, wreaths, greens, etc. Where is the best place to go? I am looking for a larger tree (9 - 10 feet), full, etc. How much would that typically cost in the area. Thanks!

So excited to be celebrating my first Alabama Christmas!

Friends of ours run a Christmas tree farm east of Huntsville, just over the river in Lacey's Spring. I think there are a couple more around. I have no idea of pricing because we've had a fake tree for years because of hubby's allergies.
Here's an article on their farm: http://alafarmnews.com/index.php?opt...:november-2008
Here's a listing of most in the area: http://pickyourownchristmastree.org/ALxmashuntsv.php
Be sure to call and make sure the farm is still in operation before you drive out there.

Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

We went to Trim-a-Tree Farms on 72 out towards Athens last year. I don't recall how much they were, but we are going back again this year.

Thanks Everyone. I am not looking to actually cut one down I am just looking for a place/location where guys usually set up trees on lots for sale? I love walking around the lot, sidewalk, street, looking at trees, and picking on that "talks" to us, etc. I also like to take any leftover branches they may have from fresh cuts when the tree sells. Usually make little home crafts with the branches they would toss.

So where are the good streets, places, where tree sellers are set up?

There is a farm on Hwy 231/431 as you get into Meridianville (N or Huntsville). I believe they have ones already cut or you can cut your own. I believe he is there this year.

We always go down Winchester toward New Market (Right on Bell Factory Rd and then follow the signs) and cut ours. But they also have trees already cut, handmade wreaths and sprigs.

We love going out there!

Merry Christmas.

Otherwise Home Depot, Lowe's etc..... Kroger.

My family uses artificial, but we took some family photos at the Valley Christmas Tree Plantation near Gurley this past weekend. They have some very nice trees.

The one in lacey's spring off of 231 also has them cut and ready to go or will cut them for you after you pick one out on the farm. When we used to do live trees we always enjoyed walking around the farm and finding the perfect tree. We always cut it down ourselves (they will give you a saw to cut it and it only takes a minute) but they would also come cut it for you if you ask.

There is a tree lot set up in Big Spring Park downtown this year. I've never seen it before, but may be worth stopping by and checking out. Also, there is always one on Whitesburg just north of the Sports Medicine offices.

I haven't been down there recently, but you aren't possibly referring to this?

Marvin's Hardware has them for $18 for a 6-7 ft trees. I live in Arab which is about 20 miles from SE Huntsville down 231. Not sure if there is one closer to you but they have several different kinds, Douglas fir, Blue Spruce and Scotch Pine
