I drove Lewis Mountain Rd today for the first time. It was awesome, I would love to build a house up there. it was very secluded feeling, almost reminded me of parts of the Smokys.

But it looks beautiful.

Well I would consider the area of Madison Crossroads/Toney to be remote. In my opinion anyway.

I believe all the mountainous areas up the eastern edge of the county, from New Hope to Plevna, are about the most remote places you'll find in Madison County. Just think mountains.

Depending on how you choose to define remote, the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge north of the Tennessee River both on and off RSA are the most remote. I had never heard of Lewis Mountain Road but Google Maps clearly show that other people have and built some very large homes along the road.

The most remote area is the extreme NE part of Madison County, from the Mountain Fork area and east of Hurricane Creek road and Killingsworth Cove area along the Madison-Jackson county lines.

The Mountain Fork road is not open to the public and is truck/4x4 only; cars can make it to about the creek crossing and that's about it. The Killingsworth Cove road, coming in from the west, is 4x4 only. You can come in from the east via Jackson County and Hwy 65, but it's an hours drive in.

Paint Rock Valley is in Jackson County; this thread is about Madison County.
