I lived in Decatur for years but I do not know much about Burningtree. I am playing in a golf tournament there next week and I am curious if anyone knows much about it? I did play there while at UAH in the 80's and I remember it being a nice place. Any advice from the golfers here would be appreciated. Greens, challenges, opportunities, etc.

Thanks!

Thank you for spelling Burningtree correctly!
Can't tell you much about playing the course - I don't play!
But the course is regularly used for tournaments and it is kept is very good shape - better than the clubhouse. Nothing wrong with the clubhouse except it was designed in the late 1960s and is quite dated.
The Spirit of America tournament was just played last weekend. It featured a lot of outstanding college players.
It's also less water-logged than Decatur Country Club's course - DCC's having been flooded last weekend.
they are still building really nice houses near Burningtree - not on the mountain, it the valley south of B'tree. It's about the only spot in Decatur seeing new houses being built.

Best of luck on your tournament.

btw; some really nice old neighborhoods and people in Decatur. Nice also to have the river right in the city.
