Was hoping i could get some input from any folks working at Redstone as far as how they like the Huntsville area? Also curious if anyone from the North relocated to Redstone and how that transition has been i am considering relocating if a good opportunity arises.

Redstone is a great place, is it the life of Nashville or Atlanta...nope....are there things to do...yep...

Lot's of opportunities in Huntsville, and Huntsville will continue to grow.

Huntsville is a great place....

I live 22 miles from my door to my work, I pay $550 a year (2400 SQFT all brick house built in 2004)......I assume you mean property tax.

Cost of living is low here in Huntsville. Even in Huntsville proper, very low.

I bet 90% of people here are Redstone Arsenal Folks or their family members.

Did you say 'Bass Fishing'? Gunterville Lake has several national bass tournaments. Guntersville the city is about 40 minutes from Huntsville. There are people who live there who also work at Redstone. There are a lot of smaller cities around Huntsville, it depends on what you are looking for in a home.

You have the Tennessee River between Huntsville and Dothan and a little further away is Smith Lake.

Just be sure to have a job lined up before you move here. After doing over 20 years in the Navy, I relocated here a couple of months ago and have not found employment yet. Opportunities in the area are not as abundant here as they once were

When the government is not hiring, maybe...I know my company hires about 1 person month (that I know of). Maybe not much, but a company who has few employees, and been around for 20 years working a lot for the government....that's a lot.
