Okay, so I got weirded out this morning. There was a flyer on my car from UAR that said I had a pending investigation. It had a case number and a contact number. Who in the world are these people? I googled them but did not find much except that they are probably a repo car company. All our cars have been been paid for. We are the only ones that have lived at this house since we built it as a small ranch home, so it couldn't be meant for a previous owner. What's creepy is that we stay in a rural area, so this person had to put forth some effort to come in my driveway and leave it on my car. Some scam maybe?

I found this:

Pending investigation notice from UAR?

Unfortunately there was no resolution mentioned. You would think if it was legitimate there would at least be a name, date, company who the loan was defaulted to, etc on it. But as a scam it doesn't make sense.

One time, my brother in law was visiting my parents and when he went to leave in the morning, his car was gone.
He called the police and all. Later that afternoon it was found a few blocks away parked on the side of the road. I don't remember how they found out but...someone had repossessed his car and then realized they had the wrong car so they just parked it and bailed.

UAR - United Asset Recovery.
Better call them asap and clear the confusion. They will not reimburse you for the inconvenience - unless you threaten to sue them.

I don't think I'm even interested in contacting them. Can companies just do this? I'm thinking it's a scam.

you can wait 'till they appear, then beat the stew out of them with a ball bat as soon as they put their grubby paws on your property.

Been there, done that.
