Madison has more engineers per-capita that Silicon Valley. Why can't we (via the City) go wild and install FIBER to every home in town? Chattanooga did it!

Because that would be too "socialist" for the tea partiers. They'd rather have private enterprise providing a subpar service at inflated prices.

You must think things like that come free. Who is going to pay the start up costs? They would be many millions of dollars. How about having it put on the ballot during the next election to see if people in this area would be in favor of a new tax to pay for this?

Of course if we lived in a Socialist country the government would just raise our taxes without asking us to pay for fiber internet. The politicians would then brag how good they were for giving us the new really high speed internet. Is that the kind of country you want to live in?

You are free to move to a Socialist country that has low cost high speed internet. Along with high taxes you might have a bonus of government health care. What a bargain!

I believe you have to have a digital box to get Oprah channel. Not sure why anyone would want the channel.
