Does anyone know if there are any plans of a Starbucks opening over the Mt near Hampton Cove, AL??
I so dread driving over the hills just to get Starbucks coffee.

Governors Drive is soooo congested with traffic.

I just wish one would open by Lowes and Walmart -

Huh, I thought you already had one over there.

Well with Chick Fil A opening soon, I'm sure it won't be long.

There used to be a coffee place by the Pizza Hut carryout/delivery, but it went out of business. I'm not convinced a starbucks would do very well out here either. It would get some business in the morning... but all of the other locations get decent business through the whole day. After the morning rush, a Hampton Cove location would probably be dead.

You are not serious are you? Why not go to the Walmart you mentioned and buy a bag of Starbucks coffee and brew it at home yourself?

Because for whatever reason, some people like a grotesquely overpriced cup of crappuccino every morning. I had never really thought about it because I have more sense than throw money away on such things but I read an article not long ago about how much some people spend at starbucks in a year. Some people spend over $1300 per year there by buying on average a $5 drink there every weekday morning. Furthermore, their average income was estimated at $35,000 per year and that being considered generous because most of Starbucks' customers are young adults which means they spend almost 4% of their annual income there. Absolutely unbelievable.

1) I can afford it
2) I like coffee shops
3) I've never had a homemade mocha thats anywhere near as good as what I get in store; plus, sometimes I get a multi-grain bagel.
4) I enjoy the routine; seeing the regulars, knowing the baristas (and teasing the cute ones haha), and being known.

Its like Cheers, but coffee... "where eeeverybooody knooows yourr naaaame".

My average mocha is about $4. I average about 3 a week, plus a couple regular coffees. Annually, I spend about $750 on coffee at starbucks or Panera.

And that is exactly how capitalism works! Unbelievable to you, but it promotes jobs, community (as DvlsAdvc8 mentioned) and an economy. If there wasn't a market for it, it wouldn't exist.

What you find an unbelievable amount for an average salary, those gladly see it as part of their lives and enjoy it.
