Has anyone had experience having one of these installed? Sport Court - Backyard Basketball Courts & Indoor Sports Flooring

I'm thinking about looking into it for our backyard. For the realtors on the site, what are your opinions about it for resale? I doubt something like this would increase the value of the house, but would it be a detriment?

Whoa, very, very cool. The positives are it's something neat and different and if the seller had children (probably the younger the better) it might be a positive. And it would cut down on mowing and it looks like very little upkeep is needed. The negative would be if your house would appeal to empty nesters that are downsizing. How much are they? And if you install it they will come. And by they I mean every child in your neighborhood.

I'm quite sure many children will come. But if I were to do it I would ensure that a gate is in place. I doubt empty nesters would consider the house since it is around 3100 sq ft and 4 bedrooms, but I guess you never about that.

The website mentions around $15-20k depending on size and going up from there. Like I said, it is not something I would necessarily look at getting a return on in house value. I see it as a multi-purpose area to play and stay in shape and have fun with the kids and adults. Especially being able to play roller hockey on it.

I think it would garner a reaction like a swimming pool does....buyers will either LOVE it or absolutely hate it, and you will never get even close to what you put into it on resale.....or, like a pool, can even devalue your house to a potential buyer.

You better have understanding neighbors or a very big backyard.

Basketball bouncing on concrete can be loud in a quite neighborhood. Try in on your driveway, you can hear it over a block away. Tennis ball produces less noise but can still be a nuisance.

Unless if you make it an indoor court .... with Air Conditioning

You can hear a basketball bouncing a block away? Wow, I can hear it from 3-4 houses away but not a block. You must have supersonic hearing.

How big are those houses in your neighborhood?

That would be awesome!!!

I've been tempted to look into a sand volleyball court for my backyard, but $$$ is the issue.. Would need a little fence to keep the dogs from messing with it too.

Considering the type of surface it is, (not concrete) it probably won't be as loud. There are no neighbors behind us. Just one on each side.
