Did anyone else see how Mapco went from $3.19 to $3.49/gal overnight? Meanwhile, all the surrounding stations are still at $3.19-$3.29. This was at a couple locations around town, not just one. I wonder what is going on...

My gf noticed it yesterday at the dual locations on 72. She then scurried to the Walmart for the 3.19 gas thinking it was all about to explode out. I would also love to know the deal with Mapco right now.

The one I go to here in Decatur went from $3.29 to $3.49 overnight. Down the street at Raceway, same price.
Mapco owners are crazy...they do that all the time. Tomorrow it might be $3.19 again.

I just noticed $3.49 at the Mapco here in Athens as well...BP is still at $3.29 and they are usually priced higher.

I also noticed that at the Mapco's today. I checked the crude oil prices to see if there was a huge spike for some reason and there isn't anything out of the ordinary. In fact, they are predicting gasoline prices to go down due to lower demand coming in the fall and cheaper gasoline blends in various parts of the country. All I can attribute it to is maybe a little gouging for the labor day weekend traveling.

I have a Mapco that I often stop at on the way home when I need gas but I passed on by and stopped at another store and filled up for $3.19. I may just avoid Mapco altogether for a few months and do my part to counteract their gouging.

Yea, Mapco had become my go-to station due to their proximity to my house and $.03/gallon discount + free drinks/food with their Rewards card. I'm going to stop going there for awhile based on this price jump. It is like they are trying to create an artificial price increase in the area as I noticed on Gas Buddy that a couple other local stations just updated to $3.49.

Also something to note, I saw on another forum that Mapco also increased their prices in Nashville by $.30/gal as well.

Unfortunately the points you earn when you fill up are calculated on the gallons purchased, not the price paid.

I was kidding - I don't care for the whole "rewards" idea - they just get the money back through some other means.
