Wow, I had nothing but good experiences at out of town Golden Corrals...I hope the new one here in HSV comes in under better management than what I'm hearing about on this thread. Yikes!

Lol, I guess I am just not a fan of buffets.

I am a one plate kind of person.

I enjoyed the variety when I was a kid, but now I just enjoy one dish.

Same here, Dave. I just don't care for buffets.

lol, with such a diverse palate, was it really necessary to go to a buffet for that?

I know gas stations that serve all of that.

We go to Golden Corral everytime we see my Mother and Brother and go out to eat. It is their favorite place and we don't go unless we are with them so not a big issue with us.
We take what we want to eat and don't waste anything and do not "stuff" ourselves either.
My husband is diabetic and watches closely what he eats and I have lost 500 pounds and it took me about 13 years to do it on my own without surgery, pills or programs so I still watch closely what I eat as well.

There is plenty of quantity at GC but the quality is lacking, IMHO. Hometown is better but I am also not a fan of buffets.

I like a good buffet. Sweet Tomatoes (chain) or something like Mildred's in Park City. Haven't been to the "new" Marvin's in Fayetteville. I always went to the one that was at the current Mildred's location.

But, back in the 1980s, Ryan's was really good. But, then again, they would have alfalfa sprouts on the buffet. I would make a salad using those instead of lettuce, with black olives, jalepeños, English peas, and ranch dressing.

Dang, I'm hungry today. I was looking up what shortbread was on wikipedia, then got in a discussion about the many ways to make chex mix, and now I'm drooling myself over salads I had 25 years ago.

I LOVE the Sweet Tomato! Used to visit a location in Atlanta frequently. Best salad bar, hands down!
