It seems it has a special place in some people's hearts. God bless you huffbuffer for your thread.

They don't have a fireworks display at Bridgstreet any more - it was canceled last year. As for "a model," I think Destin Commons is the real model for cities to study - it's much more accessible.

The best I have ever been to are THE GREENE, DAYTON OHIO, and THE DOMAIN in Austin Texas. They exemplify how different they can be and yet still serve their purposes in a pleasing and comfortable way

I am not challenging your source of information, but I have to suggest that no one is studying Bridge Street. (except the planners that made so many expensive mistakes in putting it together)
If someone needs some inspiration for such a development, there are too many to count. And unfortunately, BS has just been a very troubled project.

I do think that things will be much better after the expansion opens, but some of the poor design elements just can't be corrected at a reasonable cost. (accessibility never got the attention of a professional)

addition; yes to Dirt Grinder , DESTIN COMMONS is an excellent design and a pleasure to visit due to its exceptional accessibility.

OMG, that is a classic thread with much great debate. I read all 52 pages! Too bad the OP gave it a stupid name and it is closed.

Phew - haven't been on here in a while, so happy to see Bridge Street is staying put...for a while there it looked both ominous and scary!

We are not out of the woods yet. I feel like BS will be successful if they continue closing high-end stores and bringing in typical mall retailers. Barnes and Noble was a great addition and increased the traffic significantly. I think the new Belk will be a huge boost as well.
