They are a production builder that builds offsite in panels and then assembles onsite. These are NOT SIP panels, but regular stick-frame walls.

They are energy star builders -- nothing fancy here, they just silicon all the cracks and panels they put together and TVA pressure-tests all their homes.

Lot sizes are minuscule. I have looked at some of their homes recently and all of their floor plans, and they are all basically the same house with minor changes. The designs were simply blah -- not bad, but certainly not good. Not a single design was friendly to the aging years, toddlers, or anyone with even modest mobility issues -- and yes that means ALL bedrooms are upstairs, always.

However, they are pretty cheap.

They advertise, depending on the subdivision, prices from $59/sf. Then they'll send you to the design center to consider upgrades from the standard cabinets, appliances, fixtures, etc. That potentially pushes the actual price higher. Hunter makes decent, basic housing that fills a niche in the market. Very few builders are serving that need, most are focused on $200,000 to $450,000 new homes. Not everyone can afford that.

Regardless of your price point for a new home I'd strongly suggest to anyone who is considering buying a home from any developer that they drive through several of that developer's existing communities to decide for yourself if the look, lot size, amenities like a pool/clubhouse (or lack of) and overall quality are what you and your family are comfortable with. I also suggest that buyers be thinking of resale values down the road. Resale values will be impacted dramatically by a home's surroundings as much as a home's condition.

All builder/developers have some good and some so-so communities. It's fairly normal. No two buyers needs are alike, either. Regardless of your price point, explore all your options. And a good Realtor can certainly help you :-)

don't do it; we bought one from them. Moderator cut: comment house is 4 years old. had problems with A/C but it was covered. when they say 2 car garages, they mean 2 car garages for 2 small prius size cars.

Consumer complaints are not allowed. You may say, I wouldn't recommend them, but please don't put in the details. You may send a DM to the OP with those.

We considered a lot of options, as we had plenty of time in our move back home. There are a lot better options than this, but you'll need to PM me for comments. Consider, however, that for our over 2K sf new home, we paid less than $240 for energy costs during the coldest month this past winter, heating and electric.

I'm sorry what does PM and DM mean cuz I don't get how to contact people on this thing without the commentator so I can really find out about these homes with no editing.
thanks

One word of advice... It is not a good idea to send an email to a member unless you don't mind them having your name etc.
