Advice to a new DOD contractor -always- discuss the contract environment with your boss (or when interviewing). Find out the details of 'your' contract: period of performance, SOW, funding &c - best to read the contracts yourself and discuss with boss - makes you a more informed and better employee.

Elections matter.
Good advice, but with all due respect, very few either have the desire knowledge or ability to understand their repective employers contract. Under a cost contract the Government simply changes the services required (the costs incurred) poof you are gone. If the option renewal comes up and the Government choses not to exercise that option, poof. Few people would even bother to get a copy of their contract, I doubt most understand the FOIA process. But other than that I agree an informed person is better off.

Cuts that cost jobs will not be made while the economy is in recession. Such cuts would only deepen the recession and make things worse. Everything is probably safe till at least 2010.

Charles what is your point? The link title is a misnomer, Per your link President Elect Obama said he will "ensure that it (missle defense) is developed in a way that is pragmatic and cost effective". Thats very good, to me it means cuts. To others job gains. When you can speak so well that the listener can hear what s/he wants then you are a world class speaker.

And yes the 2009 budget will be set before he takes office, so no cuts in 2009.

Charles, that article was disgraceful, even by Huntsville Times standards.

Who are going to believe - Obama's own words when he promised Missile Defense cuts or some in-the-tank reporter at Pravda-on-the-Pinhook.
