WalMart sells Zummo's boudin - I cook it on the grill and I really like it. I also order boudin from The Best Stop Supermarket in Scott, Louisiana - they'll ship their boudin anywhere in the country.

Good review:
J. Gumbo’s

I am a big fan of Jambalaya. I like J. Gumbo's and Tim's, but the best is at New Orleans Lunchbox | Barbecue | Cajun Food

I also will be bringing a more "seasoned" taste tester in town to help me get it all capture for the article.

For the record, I have always had a fondness for Tim's and NO ONE does Cajun crab legs better.

Not Cajun Cafe, Not Po Boy, Not Wintzell's, not anyplace in the area. That is what I usually go for.Oh and the green bean casserole. Very good.

I can't say I've done their crab legs. I just know what I like in gumbo, and Tim's ain't it. I do like their Jambalaya and Red Beans and Rice though.

I was in Birmingham this weekend and ate at Cajun Steamer. Its a favorite of ours and I really like their gumbo. I still think its a hair better than J. Gumbo's, but also more expensive.

I however am no expert in what is supposed to be authentic Cajun food. I just know what I like.

I am not a Gumbo person by nature.

But I look forward to getting to try Cajun Steamer when it opens here!

Glad you liked it. If we ever get a Cajun steamer, its gumbo is similar.

I've had their Voodoo Chicken twice and I thought I had the Jean Lafitte, for take out, one day at lunch, but it wasn't served in a taco shell type bowl like it looks on their web site. Grub south delivers their food and a couple of summers ago they had a small cart/food truck outside the lone goose. It's good. I heard they will let you sample any item before buying it. I like it wayyyyyy better than Tim's and as much as I wanted to love the NO Lunchbox, (and maybe it was an off day) I just didn't' care for it.
