Never been to a Wal-Mart Express. I wonder if this is to combat the CVS/Walgreen combo on ever other corner. Wal-Mart just won't stop.

Neither have I.
I do love our WalMart Market, but we have lost a regionally-owned grocery store on our side of town.
WalMart can be stopped if people will quit buying there.

Or dollar general. I think I see a DG on every corner between Huntsville and Hazel Green.

That's too bad. I've been much happier since I started doing my grocery shopping at Publix.

It is to combat Dollar General. Dollar General has seen explosive sales growth while WalMart has seen decreasing sales. I haven't been in one of the Market Stores either. I just assume they operate just like a full size walmart but just a smaller footprint. I still go in walmart to get some things but I dread it every time I do. I don't expect making the store smaller is going to fix the things I hate about walmart.

If you are referring to the Neighborhood Market store, they are like a typical grocery store.

If you are referring to the Express, then yeah I could see how they are going after DG.

Yes the Express stores are the ones I am referring to competing with Dollar General. Until I read your post, I didn't even realize there were two different kinds of new walmart stores (Express and Neighborhood Market). I guess that shows how big a fan of walmart I am and how likely I am to step in one of the new stores. lol

I try not to go into the Supers unless there is absolutely no other choice.

The Neighborhood markets, at least down here, are not so bad. I can't "hate" on them per se because the grocery market has been so cutthroat and in flux that they have brought some options and stability to an area that has abandoned Bruno's, Food World's and Winn Dixie's in several places.

I do not see the need for an Express, at all. They already space the Supers out so they're 6 or 12 miles apart, I think (almost every exit here) so now I guess they want an excuse to drop these Expresses in between each Super.

I'm guessing they'll come out with a Mini-Quickie Wal Mart Next, or a Red Box Mart. They won't stop until they have more coverage then Radio Shack, Game Stop and Coke Machines combined.
