We visited Subzero Ice Cream on County Line Road this evening. We first heard about the franchise on Shark Tank. I ordered Huckleberry Custard with a medium freeze. The creamy texture and rich flavor were definitely what I expected from a true frozen custard.

They use liquid nitrogen to custom-create your ice cream or yogurt at the time it's ordered. It's an interesting concept and results in a very good product.

Subzero Ice Cream

No - I'm not an investor and I don't have any affiliation with the store - it's just good.

Ah, another reason for me to envy the James Clemens High School area.

Ok, the gimmick sounds cool enough.

I will venture over and try it soon.

Is that the place that opened up across from Bruster's, in front of Publix? My wife and I were taking bets if the area could support 2 ice cream places, plus McDonalds just opened down the road, which has decent and cheap treats.

I'm guessing the fairly close proximity of three schools (Liberty, Heritage, and James Clemens), plus several fairly large neighborhoods in that area will allow both ice cream shops to do well. The outlook for Paradise Donuts is obviously not as rosy. I noticed yesterday that there's a closed/for sale sign positioned inside the front door. I didn't think they'd fare well with McDonalds right next door but didn't think they would be gone so soon. I'm not even sure Mickey D's has been open for two months yet.

DG.

Fantastic. IT was gimmicky, but it produced an amazing custard. Fresh and to my exact specifications.

I am going again later this evening. I don't normally eat ice cream out, but I really, really liked this place.
