My 12 month intro rate is up with WOW and they've doubled my internet bill. Anyone have success negotiating the rate down in these situations with WOW?

Start with "I don't want to change from WOW, but I'll have to if I can't get my rates lowered."

You'll be handed off to the person who's one job it is it to keep you there. You'll get your internet speed doubled (or that's AT&T's thing) and have the same price as last year plus $4 probably.

The long you you stay, the more negotiations, the higher the stakes when that time of year rolls around. I know last year I had over $100 in discounts.

Unfortunately if you live in Huntsville you can play WoW and Comcast off of each other, but if you don't WoW knows you have no options and are just going to suck it up and take it. You can bargain if you have at least television service with them, because you can play the I am going to switch to satellite game with them and see what they will offer you.

But if you live in Madison and you only have internet with the folks at WoW then you are in a weak bargaining position and then your only hope is if WoW has the same disconnect metrics as Comcast.

Does anyone know what stand alone internet costs with WOW in Madison?

Going to be setting up service soon.

I just want the 12/15mbps service, no cable.

Ok, I called them up.

Setting up new service has a $50 install fee, flat, even with my house never having cable before, they will have to run an overhead from across the street.

12/15mbps - $37
25/30mbps - $57

Both rates are gtd for 12 months and include the $7 modem rental fee.

She said the rate would go up $20 a month after 12 months, but she said just call back before and surely they will be able to do something.

I mean it's a bit annoying to have to call every year and knock the rate down or keep it down, but I was thinking 25/30 would cost me like $100 a month without cable bundled or something, so these prices are excellent for my needs.

Just wanted to share and post a snap shot of their pricing

You can buy your own cable modem and save yourself some money and it will pay for itself within a year.

Yes, I plan on doing that.

I was just looking at a modem/router combo on Amazon. $128, but will basically pay for itself in a year and has a router built in, so one less thing to reset.

As much as I hate Mediacom, we pay $56/mo for 50 meg download speeds including the $6 modem rental fee. Right now (it's actually working correctly) we are bumping 65 meg download speeds. Those prices seem a little too high to me..... If we were new customers we would be paying even less per month.

Wow doesn't always know that you have no other options. Before we bought our house, the apartment complex we were in would only get Wow, and that's it. I called and told them our bill was too much and we were thinking about changing to Directv, next thing I know they offered to drop our bill about $60 (we had cable & internet) and guaranteed the price for 2 years.

So, it doesn't hurt to call, even if they are your only option.
