Not only does our money buy more, in Huntsville, we also make more. Funny how the hyper liberal states are dead last.

Alabama may be a nice place to live, but your per capita income is seven grand less than the national average.

Not in Huntsville pal. Our only problem is having too many jobs and not enough people.

Huntsville looks like a prosperous place to live. Alabama, as a whole, isn't doing to well. Birmingham was almost last in GDP growth for metros above one million people.

Maybe so, but the COST OF LIVING is much lower also. Especially when it comes to real estate.

You also have to realize there are pockets of abject poverty in AL that bring that average WAY down.

and if you're in Syracuse, why are you even participating on an AL forum???

MSA Per Capita Income, 2012
St. Louis Federal Reserve

Atlanta: $40,963
Birmingham: $41,850
Huntsville: $41,595
Syracuse: $41,774

Whoops. So much for your thesis that Birmingham is wallowing in poverty.

In the interest of keeping you informed, while Birmingham has a higher per-capita income than Syracuse, it also has about an 8% lower cost of living, not even including lower taxes:
