Are there any Cubans or Cuban descendent folk living in Huntsville/Madison, Alabama?

There are a handful of Cuban families who came here in the 1960s. Most have married into the local stock. I don't know of any Cuban restaurants at all in this area.

I know I miss cuban food. You can get cuban chorizo at Publix but they usually only carry a small supply since most hispanics here use fresh chorizo. I can make it but it is easier to eat it out.
Now if only I could find a stuff boliche.

You may want to check out 35805 zip code as this is turning into a hispanic area much like the Buford Hwy area in Atlanta, which by the way has an awesome selection of latino food products. It would be a jewel if Huntsville's hispanic area reaches the same levels.

Keeper, one of these days we should have a cook-out.
OH, FYI - husband found vegan chorizo somewhere the other day...now, I won't even dare to suggest it tastes anything like the real thing, but for the vegetarians out there, it's an alternative. (I prefer the real deal.)

That brings back memories!!!! My abuela lived in Ybor City and we ate that every morning. Cuban sandwiches at the Columbia restaurant, paella made by my great-grandmother.
My dad is cuban and I am adopted. He didn't continue his heritage but to this day I still love the food and any time I hear a cuban speaking I recognize the dialect - it slightly has a different lilt to it than spanish.
