Now that the Senate race is settled, expect a BRAC next year. Repubs in Congress didnt want to do a BRAC with a Dem Senate. Now that Repubs have the Senate Huntsville Alabama is poised to win big in the next round.

The FY 2015 budget proposal includes a request for another round of BRAC to begin in FY 2017.

So what exactly are we supposed to be preparing for.........another round of overbuilding houses that end up being bank repossessions and more strip centers with the exact same stores as 30 other existing centers? Maybe throw in another walmart or two. I can't wait. lol

Don't forget the Mexican restaurants, mattress stores, and nail spas - we'll certainly need more of those.

They are telling us at work to prepare for a CR for the next two years. Apparently the Pentagon doesn't think we'll get a budget until the next president.

Since the President's 2015 budget proposal was DOA it is a mute point. FY2015 (which started October 1) is being funded by a continuing resolution which runs through December 11, 2014. A new continuing resolution will probably be passed by then. The date it will run to is unknown but the Republicans will probably want it to end some time soon after they take over the Senate next January. Hopefully with the Republicans controlling the agenda of both the House and Senate a real budget will be possible the last half of FY2015. If a budget is agreed on there is no guarantee that BRAC will be even in it.

Another thing is the fact that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is resigning. The person that replaces him may have a different perspective of the priorities for the military. Current BRAC recommendations by the Pentagon may end up in the trash.

The term is "moot point." I posted a reference to the proposal because someone wanted a source.
