Hello.

There is a possibility of relocating to the Miami area. We currently live in Dallas. We have young children and we would like to live in a safe area with good public schools. If the job is located in Miami Beach would you consider Weston or Doral? I also have been looking in Coral Gables and Pinecrest but the prices are higher than in Doral and Weston, and I don’t see good public schools in the Coral Gables area. Which are better the schools in Weston or Doral? Why would you choose one over the other? Would be easier to sell a house in Doral or Weston? Thanks!

The Florida forums may prove more helpful.

Doral heavily Cuban Hispanic, airport noise.
Weston mixed yuppies, no airport noise, less crime.
Coral Gables, skip public schools, go private. Rich and semi-rich in a giant oppressive HOA
Pinecrest, meh.
Parts of Miami Shores may still be safe
Aventura, maybe

If you plan on buying, factor in property tax and windstorm insurance - much higher east of 95, but high wherever you go

Moved up here from the Ft Lauderdale area.

Mods please move to Florida forum - Ft Lauderdale or Miami

All four cities are known for having great schools and communities.

You really want to live close to where you'll be working. Miami's traffic can be incredibly tough. I plan my day to avoid the worst jams, but you probably won't have that flexibility. Use google maps at commuting times to gauge how long it will really take you to get back and forth to various areas.
