My family and I are relocating to the Harvest area at the end of February or the first of March from Kentucky. I was wondering if someone could give me some info. We are looking to rent something not in the city but close to other homes. My husband will be working at a plant on HWY 53. What areas would you recommend? We have two children one in elementary and one in middle school, any pointers on schools? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Harvest, Monrovia, and Madison areas are all great places to live.

Harvest is still kind of rural, but there are subdivisions popping up all over. Madison and Monrovia are suburban and full of subdivisions.

Madison schools are very good, some of the tops in the state.

In Monrovia, Monrovia Elementary and Legacy Elementary I hear are good. I live in Harvest and my son goes to Endeavor Elementary, IMO it is a great school. Monrovia Elem., Legacy Elem., and Endeavor Elem. all filter into Monrovia Middle School.

As far as housing, what size home are you looking for? Price? Ammentities?

Harvest and NW Madison County have developed a lot in the past ten years. Much of the housing is new and pretty nice; the average income in the area is ~$75k IIRC.

The Madison County schools around Harvest are Harvest ES or Endeavor ES (both score around 60s SAT, best in the area score 70s); Monrovia MS or Sparkman MS; and Sparkman HS (new building, multiple Cheerleader National Championships).

There is a new Publix (good supermarket) under construction at AL53 and Jeff Rd. AL53 is scheduled for widening from HSV to Jeff Rd sometime, um, soon...
