Hello,
My family and I are moving to Huntsville in a couple of weeks and have found a house on Forrest Oak Lane in Huntsville. Does anyone know anything about this area? Is it a safe neighborhood? How are the schools in that area? We don't know anything about the area and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mapquest doesn't know the street in HSV, Madison, or the county. valleymls doesn't have searches by street name. Are you sure about the street name (there are some 'Forrest' and 'Forest x') and city? Do you have an MLS number?

There are two homes available on Forrest Oak Lane, in the MLS. They are in NE Madison County, in the Stone Hill Estates Subdivison. The schools are Mt Carmel Elementary, Riverton Middle, and Buckhorn HS. If you need anymore information on the homes, please just ask. I will leave it up to the rest of the people here to give their opinions on the area and school system.

Thanks HsvMike.

Forrest Oak Lane is about a mile North of Winchester / Moores Mill, then about a mile in through the neighborhood. The street has 8 houses (t-intersection, to the right is cul-de-sac, to the left soon-to-be-developed cotton field). The development is new, all-brick, ~2000 sf, with sodded bermudagrass lawns. Drive through 70s (split-levels and ranches) and 80s neighborhood to get there; surrounded by cotton fields and cow pastures.

The schools are good: new facilities, great parental involvement (some families have generations at Riverton and Buckhorn). Mt Carmel ES scores high 60s on SAT (good for here).

Safe? Absolutely.
