Anyone know of a way to find out about local shootings or other crimes that aren't on the news?? Making a map of where shootings occur in Huntsville and I'm just curious. I get the ones that are on the local news sites, but many never make it to the news. Is there a way to find out about these other than being a police officer , like a website or something.

Why waste your time?.....Just put a whole bunch of dots on Northwest Huntsville and then scatter just a few randomly everywhere else and you are done. lol

I know the Huntsville Times used to post police blotters daily, but I don't think AL.com has continued that... I googled "huntsville al police records" and here are a few sites you may find useful:

Welcome to the Huntsville Police Department (HPD's main website, may help direct you where to find information)
JAIL View (shows recent bookings at MCJ with information such as charges and bond)
HPD News Releases (HPD news releases all the way back to 2005)

If all else fails, I'm pretty sure someone has already developed a sort of map like the one you described- just use the right search keywords and one will probably turn up.

Apparently SportCrime doesn't do Huntsville anymore.
