Construction will also probably begin on that overpass as well this summer, some houses along that stretch have been vacated.
Awesome if true.

The drainage part began a week or two ago, although the linked article says it'll start tomorrow. Getting a slightly early start (but of course, it's really several years behind). A utility pole in the median was moved yesterday. They've also paved a crossover to the new northbound lanes a short way north of Edgewater Drive. The paving occurred a couple of days ago.

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - With baseball now less than a year away, many are wondering what additional attractions will call Town Madison home.
A site plan found online would indicate Saltgrass Steak House, Zaxby’s, Milo’s restaurants and Twice Daily Convenience Store will call Town Madison home.
Town Madison Spokesman, Joey Ceci confirmed Twice Daily, a high-end convenience store that includes its new White Bison Coffee concept, will cement a location at Town Madison.

Could Twice Daily, Milo
I was hoping that Town Madison would have more local restaurants and stores to not make it feel as cookie cutter. It seems like it is setting up to just be a Bridge Street-esque development with a baseball team and lazy river. Do y'all think that that is an unfair assessment? I haven't seen the full site plan, just bits and pieces. Large parking lots will mean its a good place for people to go watch a baseball game and then leave, not stick around and walk to restaurants and what not.

It's clear Breland is stuck on the old ideas of "big retail" developments. He's stuck on big-box store anchors followed by other chains with a bunch of houses behind it. The Trash Panda stadium was originally set to be a big box retail anchor, but he struggled to get one after Cabellas's chose Hunysville/Bridgestreet. The proposed Clift Farm site plans are just as boring and generic. Town Madison should have been designed to be a larger Providence style development w/ a parking garage once the stadium was added.

According to another site plan graphic, The larger structures near Zierdt are wasted with apartments, a movie theater, a grocery store and a bunch of traditional out parcels, which will almost for sure be a waste (at one point 2 were labeled as Taco Bell & Starbucks). So like you said, what exactly do you do after the games to keep you there? Lol

As for the west side, does it not boggle anybody else's mind that there is going to be 3 hotels...but no restaurants?

They're also doing a lot of work on the east end, near Zierdt Rd. The area between Zierdt and the new Station apartments appears to have been leveled and ready to build, and a lot of work has been done just north of there short of Madison Blvd. That might just be drainage, and it also looks like another road is being cut through, but that may just be temporary for construction access. I've heard that Chick-Fil-A will build there, but not officially. Seems a little silly to get excited over a fast food restaurant.

The biggest, and maybe only, retail that I know of is Duluth Trading Company which is nearing completion.

Well, if it's Bridge Street-esque, that will be pretty nice. Bridge Street is a cool place.

Is the east side aerial current? It doesn't seem to have the footprint of the apartments that are essentially framed in now, nor do I see the Margarita Hotel near the baseball stadium. I'm sure there are other differences too.
