Starting November 1 Amazon will start collecting a 8% sales tax for customers in Alabama.

Well, at least I don't have to keep up with my online purchases and claim it on tax return anymore. Ugh

Just a heads up but Jet was recently acquired by Walmart so that tax free option is probably going to end soon as well.

What a bummer. I pay 10% on items locally, so the 8% is still a small savings. I probably won't be using them quite as much though. Haven't been very happy with their customer service lately anyway.

Should be supporting the local economy anyway. I always buy local plus I like to have my hands on and inspect my purchases first.

Yes, but if my local stores are unwilling to carry what I want or need, why should I pay sales tax?

Best part about Amazon is seeing the reviews for a product before you buy it. Not having to go to a store is also a bonus. Plus the wide selection and competitive pricing. I buy so much on Amazon I have their store card for 5% cash back. Sales tax is a bummer.

What local economy? Walmart? Home Depot? Nothing local about them
