Default We're spending a few days in Huntsville this June and need some ideas to do while there?

Fun things that a 14 and 11 year old would enjoy and also we want to look around and see what industries look attractive. Are there any engineering job fairs around the middle of June in Huntsville?

Botanical Garden - they have some interesting water features (sprinklers) for kids, plus this year's theme is dinosaurs. Nice place to stretch your legs.

Default Fall Mills

Don't miss Fall Mills: Falls Mill It is a great working grist mill and highly educational as well as photographic.

It can easily be worked in with a trip to a tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery (which is great, even for kids - our 7 year old loved the tour) and a lunch at Ms. Mary Bobo's Boarding House in Lynchburg.

Cathedral caverns with the largest frozen waterfall is just a short drive from Huntsville.
Cathedral Caverns in Grant, Alabama
Alabama State Parks

I have heard if you can get into Ms Bobo's for lunch, it is wonderful. If you want to be sure you get in for lunch I would suggest you call for reservations.

Watch the Miracle Worker and then check out Helen Keller's Birthplace Home in Tuscumbia. It is a pretty cool experience and only about an hour west from Huntsville.

Default Thanks for the ideas.....please don't stop.

As it gets closer, I'll be writing some of these great places down on our list. I'm excited to be spending a few days around Huntsville just to get the feel of things. Really appreciate the places mentioned....

Okay......the person asked about what to do in HUNTSVILLE, not Nashville. But I would agree that there's not much to do here so drive to Nashville or Decatur, etc.

Seriously, the Botanical Garden is nice, and so is the Space & Rocket center. Your kids might be a little old for the children's museum downtown.

I second Cathedral Caverns, it is very cool and only 30 minutes from Huntsville. The formations are amazing.
