Who is going to pay for it?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO TAXPAYER MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I'd love to see a team here, no matter who, it will die a long slow death no matter where it is. Not enough people in the entire region who care.

With good marketing and creative promotions (like most good minor league teams), combined with the potential for a stadium to be located in the middle of a brand new development with walk-able restaurants, bars and shops, it can certainly survive in a metro area with almost 500,000 people and many younger families.

Clearly, from my handle, you can tell where I live - and I've got no problem with my tax dollars going towards something like this. I consider it an investment to the city/county. And yes, Tennhioland is right - this can more than survive in a metro area the size of ours right now...let alone how big it will be in 5-10 years.

Of course it can make it here. Look at the Southern League, I think Huntsville would be about in the middle in metro size: Birmingham, Chattanooga, Jackson, Montgomery, Kodak (really Knoxville), Biloxi, Jacksonville, Pearl MS, Mobile, and Pensacola.

You need good ownership to make it work, and yes the city/county and Mr. Breland are going to have to pony up for the venue. I wonder if Huntsville is scrambling behind the scenes to put together a package for downtown Huntsville.

x2...I can see me taking my family here for at least a handful of games each season if there were restaurants within walking distance. I used to go to Durham Bulls games all the time as a kid and loved going to dinner and a game in Chattanooga when we lived there.
