It's my anniversary tonight and I have a sitter, so I can go out to dinner with my husband alone - something we have literally not done at all since moving to Alabama. (Yes, sad, I know.)
We will only have a few hours so I'm not looking to drive to Nashville or anything like that. Something in Huntsville that is reasonably nice/quiet/romantic. |

Well, in Decatur..Simp McGhee's on Bank Street, especially if you like seafood, or Cafe 113 on Grant Street in downtown Decatur.
Can't tell you anything better in Huntsville than Olive Garden or Rosie's or Outback...I'm not allowed to go to finer places! I did go to a luncheon at Jazz Factory about 3 years ago...it seemed nice. Now, if you're willing to drive to Birmingham, there are some TRULY fine, white tablecloth restaurants, like Cafe Dupont, Highland Bar & Grill, Ocean, Hot & Hot Fish Club, Bottega, etc. That's what I hear...I'm not allowed to go anyplace there, either! (although I have been to the more casual side of Bottega...wow! Delicious!) Have a great time! ![]() |

Why not Ruth's Chris steak house at the Embassy Suites?

I don't think I want to go all the way to Decatur.. we'd spend half our evening in transit. Besides, my husband is allergic to seafood!
Hmm, the Embassy Suites is a good idea. We very rarely eat steak so it would be a nice treat. And the restaurant at the Embassy Suites where we used to live was excellent. If anyone has any other ideas, keep 'em coming! |

I've only been here 5 weeks and I've eaten there twice
![]() Didn't have steak the 2nd time. You can't beat Ruth's. Just make it happen. |

Wow. in another thread someone asked about things to do in HUNTSVILLE and the posters could only reply about things to do in Nashville or Decatur. And now someone's asking about a restaurant in HUNTSVILLE and everyone tells her to go to B'ham or Decatur.....
I'm just saying, and don't get mad at me for pointing it out.... Isn't there anything at Bridge Street? How come there was such a big deal made about Bridge Street yet months after opening nobody really talks about that place? I visited Huntsville a couple of times since it opened, and not one of my friends thought to mention going there.....I'm visiting this Sunday so maybe I'll just check it out on my own. |

Bridge Street has PF Chang's and Connors Steak House, if I am not mistaken. Both are supposed to be pretty good. I have not been to either yet. Ruth Chris is excellent, but it is pretty much just in the Lobby of the hotel, so I really wouldn't call it quiet and romantic.

How about skipping the chain restaurants and trying one of Huntsville's local restaurants? 801 Franklin (american, continental), The Jazz Factory (mediterranean-ish) or Pauli's Chophouse (steakhouse).
